Goals:
- Complete four dressage tests and post to ADS web site for membership review and feedback by May 1st or earlier. Sequence will be Intermediate test #6 and Intermediate #7 (for tandems and fours) done first. Then, ADT Training #2 and ADT Preliminary #2 to be completed. Implement new procedure for tests drives that evaluate dressage test from driver and judge’s viewpoint. Finalize after receiving feedback and have these tests published and available for use for 2012 competitions.
- Design a new format of easy to read copies of Dressage Tests that can be marketed by the ADS staff.
- Assist Education Committee in creation of curricula and teaching modules as they may request.
- Engage in conversation that examines current issues of 1) Canter in dressage tests for singles and/or multiples 2) One handed movements added to dressage tests 3) Examination of dressage tests written in 1994 and 2005 for possible revisions or replacement while considering the issue of progression of training principles and good horsemanship in competition tests 4) Dressage judging standards and changes in ridden dressage as they may, or may not, apply to driven dressage. Reach consensus on recommendations and create the plan of action on each issue.
- Complete creation of additional or revised Dressage Tests based on decisions reached in Goal #4.
- Review of ADS Manual for Driven Dressage and Dressage Rule Book pages for needed corrections or updates.
Rationale for the Committee: Dressage is one of the four types (Driven Dressage, Pleasure Driving,
Recreational Driving and Combined Driving) of driving events recognized by the ADS. The Dressage Committee is primarily responsible for maintaining and updating the format, rules and practices of the Driven Dressage discipline including the derivatives of Driving Trials and Arena Trials, as well as Pleasure Driving.
Specific Requirements
-Prepares, proposes and considers and makes recommendations on rule change proposals (RCP) from ADS
members, the USEF or the FEI.
-Proposes new rules or proposes modification of existing rules to improve the Discipline of Dressage
-Assesses, reports and makes recommendations on the health of the Dressage discipline.
-Participates in the creation of curricula for the training of learners and officials in Combined Driving.
-Participates in the creation and upgrading of the ADS Dressage tests for Training, Preliminary,
Intermediate and Advanced (non FEI)
Relationship with others Committees: The Dressage Committee works most closely with Licensed Officials, Rules, Education and the other Technical Committees (Event Standards, Pleasure Driving and Combined Driving).
